My Work

Throughout my career, I have led and collaborated on a variety of projects that showcase my skills and commitment to excellence. Each project has taught me valuable lessons and strengthened my ability to work translate the research and information on addressing secondary traumatic stress and improving individual and organizational health.  Following is a sampling of projects and groups I have contributed to over the past 5 years.

Southern Regional Children's Advocacy Center

Collaborated on the development of the content and format of the STS Blueprint website.  The STS Blueprint was designed to help CACs (Children’s Advocacy Centers) develop an organizational plan to address secondary traumatic stress (STS) among CAC staff.

TEND

Created a 6-week intensive virtual training experience for organizational leaders looking to implement trauma-informed practices in their organization.  The TEND Trauma-Informed Practice program provides the knowledge and tools to implement and evaluate trauma-informed practices within an organization.

Co-created a program to help trauma-exposed workplaces assess and understand their workplace’s strengths and challenges and to create meaningful and sustainable change.

University of Kentucky Center on Trauma and Children through the Secondary Traumatic Stress Innovations and Solutions Center

Collaborated on creating this self-paced online training with the Secondary Traumatic Stress Innovations and Solutions Center Team.  This advanced training on secondary traumatic stress uses the Window of Tolerance framework to discuss regulation, dysregulation, and as a frame for reviewing coping strategies in the face of secondary traumatic stress. This training is being sponsored by a grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Service Administration to the University of Kentucky Center of Trauma and Children.

Founding member of the STS Consortium.  The STS Consortium is a group of researchers, trainers, practitioners and advocates with a common goal of advancing the field of secondary traumatic stress towards health. The mission of this group is to promote and support organizational health and individual well-being in trauma-exposed work environments. We aim to transform provider distress into resiliency.
